56、credible, credulous, plausible都有"可信的"意思。

credible[?kred?bl] a.可信的，可靠的。

That the studenttold the teacher a credible story that she missed classes because shewas sick.那個學生跟老師講了實情，她沒來上課是因為她病了。

credulous[?kredjul?s] a.輕信的，易于相信的。

She wascredulous when she listened to the salesman and boughtthe car for too much money.她很容易輕信別人，竟然聽信那個銷售員的話以高價買了那輛車。

plausible[?pl?:z?bl] a.似乎有理的(可信的)。常帶有懷疑的意思。

57、decline, refuse, reject, deny都有"拒絕"的意思。

decline[di?klain] v.婉言拒絕，謝絕，相當于refuse politely，主要用于拒絕有關社交活動的邀請或要求幫助的請求，后接名詞或動詞不定式，主語只能是人。

58、deduce, induce, reduce　　這是一組形近易混詞。

deduce[di?dju:s] v.推斷，推理，演繹。

My friendbecomes quiet when his girlfriend is angry with him;today he is quiet and so I deduce she is angry.我的朋友在他的女朋友生他的氣的時候就會變得沉默，今天他很沉默，所以我推斷她生氣了。

induce[in?dju:s] v.引誘，勸；引起，導致。

We couldn'tinduce the old lady to travel by air.我們無法勸說那位老太太坐飛機去。

reduce[ri?dju:s] v.減輕，減??；降低。

He reduced hisweight by 20 poundsby eating less andexercising.他通過節(jié)食和運動，體重減輕了20磅。

59、delay, postpone　　這兩個詞都有"延遲"之意。

delay[di?lei] v.延期，延緩，耽擱，指由于不可避免的障礙等原因而延期。

Her late arrivaldelayed the start of the meeting.她的遲到使會議延遲開始。

postpone[?p?ust?p?un] v.耽擱，暫緩，常指將某事放置一邊，等到另一事發(fā)生或一定時間后再做。

60、demonstrate, illustrate都有"說明"的意思。

demonstrate[?dem?nstreit] v.多指通過具體動作或物體進行演示、示范、表演、展示等以達到說明或解釋的目的。
