一、contract,shorten,shrink,condense區(qū)別

收縮（shrink，shorten，contract，condense），這四個動詞均有“縮短；收縮”之意。

1.shrink

v.縮水；收縮，指因收縮而達不到原有的長度、體積或容積，尤指衣服縮水。

E.g.My sweater shrank in the wash. 

我的毛衣縮水了。

2.shorten

v.變短；縮短，指縮短時間、尺寸或過程等。

E.g.Smoking can shorten your life. 

吸煙會縮短你的壽命。

3.contract

v.收縮；縮小，指以內、外部力量進行緊縮。

E.g.The heart muscles contract to expel the blood. 

心臟肌肉收縮以擠壓出血液。

4.condense

v.濃縮；壓縮，指將東西壓縮得更緊密、緊湊，但不失去原有的內容。

E.g.The article was condensed into just two pages. 

這篇文章被簡縮成兩頁。
